Day No.4: Ascension

Today is Ascension Day and marks the return of the Lord up into the heavens where He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come quickly to judge the living and the dead. Jesus is waiting for the hour that God the Father releases Him to come back for His Church, His Bride. The rapture is coming very soon! We will be taken up with Him just like He was taken up. And when He returns He will descend the same way He ascended (Acts 1:11)

I watched a movie last night that was not really godless, so much as anti-God and anti-Christ. It was Satan's rip on the history of man as told all the way up to Sodom. Of course it was crude, slapstick and self effacing but a truly insidious mockery of commands, promises and relationships God holds dear. Especially interesting is the enemy's mockery of Seth and how he "enjoyed" showing Abel being "killed" over and over again. The enemy mocked Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac, the covenant of circumcision; Sodom was "the place to be." And rather than fire and brimstone destroying Sodom, the self-gods send rain (fascinating). So, the "solution" is kill God, kill his high priest, kill the myth and be your own gods.  Since we are not unaware of the enemy's schemes it's interesting to see how he invites people once again to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and is convinced he is the chosen one. He desecrates (an abomination of desolation) the Holy of Holies by going in and saying no one is even there. (We know that is where the Holy Spirit dwelled when encamped with the Israelites) At the very end we see he has this realization that there is no god and that if he is the chosen one he could be obeyed, feared and worshiped. The crowd cheers him on until he realizes, "I'm not the chose one, we can all be chosen ones, we can do our own thing and there is no god but ourselves". Which is exactly the tenants of Thelema, "do thou what thou wilt", Aleister Crowley. What is eery is that so much of what he taught clearly makes its way into this movie. Right before this movie was the preview for "Good Omens".  Based on Terry Pratchett's book, it is again a tongue in cheek mockery of Armeggedon. How does one make light of the end of the world? But you, oh Lord, know that the enemy's time is at its very end and he has been sent to deceive the world and to scoff and mock everything that God loves and deems holy(2 Peter 3:3). "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand."(Matthew 24: 23-25)
